After all these years of controversy, the FDA is finally requiring new warnings about using lindane for lice or scabies.
They now recommend reserving lindane as a second-line agent...for when other treatments don't work or can't be used.
The warnings will also stress that patients should use lindane properly. Some patients leave it on too long...or reapply it too often because of prolonged itching.
