The FDA is now warning that the new HIV protease inhibitors might increase blood sugar...leading to new or worsening diabetes.
This new warning will soon appear in the package inserts for all four protease inhibitors...Invirase (saquinavir)...Crixivan (indinavir)...Norvir (ritonavir)...and Viracept (nelfinavir).
This usually doesn't show up until 2 months after starting the protease inhibitor...but it can occur in just a few days.
