That’s because CDC now recommends doxycycline for certain patients to take after sex as POSTexposure prophylaxis (PEP).
This includes men who have sex with men (MSM) or transgender women (TGW)...with a prior STI. But be aware, sexual assault patients should still get empiric treatment for chlamydia and gonorrhea instead.
