a new INHALED form of loxapine, Adasuve (AD-uh-soov)
You'll see a new INHALED form of loxapine, Adasuve (AD-uh-soov)...for treating acutely agitated patients with bipolar or schizophrenia.
Adasuve inhalers work in about 10 minutes...compared with up to 60 minutes for oral drugs, such as risperidone, and about 20 minutes for intramuscular (IM) forms, such as olanzapine and ziprasidone.
But this faster onset comes at a cost. Patients must be cooperative enough to use the inhaler...and it has to be given in a health care setting due to the risk of serious breathing problems.
