This is false.
OTC phenazopyridine is labeled for ACUTE use...two days or less. That’s because it’s only indicated for urinary tract infection pain...not because phenazopyridine causes toxicity.
But over 1 million people in the U.S. experience CHRONIC urinary urgency, frequency, and pain. The symptoms are like a urinary tract infection...but there’s no infection.
