Probuphine (pro-BYOO-feen) will be the first buprenorphine IMPLANT for opioid dependence.
We're used to seeing buprenorphine/naloxone combos (Suboxone, etc) for opioid dependence...but abuse, misuse, or diversion can be a problem.
Probuphine consists of four small rods placed below the skin in the inner upper arm...much like the contraceptive implant Nexplanon.
