Last month we alerted you to the late-breaking news about not using sublingual nifedipine for hypertensive emergencies.
Since then, we've been talking with several of the emergency physicians that help us put together our Prescriber's Letter.
They say that in general, NONE of the sublingual or oral drug therapies that we mentioned last month are appropriate for hypertensive emergencies. The effects are too unpredictable and can't be controlled.
