    Sanofi and Bristol-Myers Squibb are promoting Plavix (clopidogrel) to prevent recurrent heart attacks or ischemic strokes.

    Plavix is a new platelet inhibitor. It's similar to Ticlid (ticlopidine)...but without the risk of neutropenia.

    Plavix is slightly more effective than aspirin...and causes slightly less GI bleeding.
