Solvay is now marketing Prometrium, the first commerciallyavailable form of ORAL micronized progesterone. Until now, this had to be compounded.
Prometrium is structurally identical to natural progesterone.The particles are micronized to improve absorption.
In the past, it was thought that natural progesterone waspoorly absorbed. That's why manufacturers developed syntheticprogestins such as Provera (medroxyprogesterone).
