Lilly is now marketing a new recombinant form of glucagon.
The new form is identical to human glucagon. It will replace the older product that was made from animal pancreas glands.
Glucagon is an extremely valuable drug for some patients with diabetes to have on hand. It can quickly raise blood sugar in patients who are unconscious and can't take sugar orally.
