Some patients are concerned they will no longer be able to get BEEF insulin...now that Lilly has stopped making Iletin I.

Thousands of patients still use animal insulins...many of them are reluctant to change. They say human insulin causes more hypoglycemia and other serious adverse effects.

The FDA will allow some patients to import beef insulin. But there will be lots of paperwork...due to theoretical concerns about "mad cow disease" from imported beef products.
