Patients are hearing that ibuprofen reduces the effectiveness of aspirin...and increases the risk of heart attack and stroke.

This stems from a new study that suggests people who take their daily low-dose aspirin with ibuprofen have almost DOUBLE the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease.

Both aspirin and ibuprofen bind COX-1 to inhibit platelet aggregation. The theory is that if ibuprofen binds COX-1 first, it will block aspirin's antiplatelet effects.
