Liver function tests are now required less often for patients taking Actos (pioglitazone) or Avandia (rosiglitazone).

The first glitazone, Rezulin, caused serious hepatotoxicity.

Due to this scare, liver enzymes were recommended every 2 months for the first year for Actos and Avandia.
