ingestion of alcohol-based hand sanitizers (Purell, etc) can cause alcohol poisoning
Some people are surprised to learn that ingestion of alcohol-based hand sanitizers (Purell, etc) can cause alcohol poisoning.
Hand sanitizer gels usually contain large amounts of alcohol. Purell and Germ-X contain 62% ethanol...more than vodka.
Some people who don't have access to alcohol turn to these products for their alcohol fix. This is especially dangerous if they contain isopropyl alcohol (Germ Out, Viraguard, etc).
