Confusion persists between Macrodantin and Macrobid.
Both of these commonly prescribed brands contain nitrofurantoin, an antibacterial agent used to treat urinary tract infections.
The original nitrofurantoin tabs were made with MICROcrystals. They caused a lot of stomach upset...but aren't available anymore.
