Substitution of Cardizem CD, Procardia XL, and other heart meds is prone to mix-ups.
The biggest culprits are the generic long-acting "calcium channel blockers"...verapamil, diltiazem, and nifedipine.
These come in many forms...some are equivalent to specific brands, and some are not. For example, which generic diltiazem should you use for Cardizem CD...Cardizem SR...or Cardizem LA?
