Technicians are trying to keep all the new diabetes meds straight...and asking why different patients get different diabetes drugs.

Metformin (Glucophage, etc) should be the FIRST drug used in type 2 diabetes. It works well...it's inexpensive...and it usually doesn't cause low blood sugar or weight gain.

But many patients will need to add another med to metformin.
