Prescription combo pain meds (Lorcet, Tylox, etc) will be limited to only 325 mg of acetaminophen per tab or cap
Prescription combo pain meds (Lorcet, Tylox, etc) will be limited to only 325 mg of acetaminophen per tab or cap.
The new limits are aimed at reducing overdoses and liver toxicity from acetaminophen. You'll see higher-dose formulations phased out by 2014...which means changes to Lortab, Vicodin, Percocet, and others.
These Rx meds will also have a new boxed warning about liver toxicity in patients who take more than 4000 mg/day of acetaminophen...or drink alcohol with these products. FDA will consider lowering the maximum dose to about 3000 mg/day...but this hasn't happened yet.
