You'll hear more about the new safety initiative for ALL hospitals to have the same concentrations of drug infusions for neonates.
Many hospitals use their own standard drug infusion concentrations for neonates. For example, one hospital might make fentanyl 20 mcg/mL as their standard infusion concentration...while another makes fentanyl 10 mcg/mL as their standard.
This can easily lead to errors...especially when babies are transferred between hospitals and are on multiple drug infusions.
