Dispense Savaysa With its MedGuide to Warn Patients About Bleeding Risks

The new med, Savaysa (sa-VAYE-sah, edoxaban), will join Pradaxa, Xarelto, and Eliquis for preventing or treating blood clots.

All of these meds are newer oral "anticoagulants" used to thin the blood. They don't require frequent lab monitoring like warfarin...but they cost over $280/month.

Expect most Savaysa patients to start on the 60 mg tabs once daily. The 30 mg strength will usually be saved for patients with poorly functioning kidneys or taking interacting drugs...and the 15 mg strength for certain patients switching from Savaysa TO warfarin.
