Prevent Errors When Patients Switch Insulins

We're getting questions about how regular or NPH insulin compares to Lantus, Humalog, or other "insulin analogs" for treating type 2 diabetes.

Insulin analogs more closely mimic how our body naturally uses insulin...which often leads to the perception that analogs are "better" than regular or NPH insulin for keeping blood sugars in check.

But analogs can cost up to TEN times MORE...and regular (Humulin R, etc) and NPH (Novolin N, etc) will likely do the job just as well.
