Watch for Frequent Dose Changes in Diabetes Patients With Very High Blood Sugar
We're getting questions about how to manage patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes and VERY high blood sugar.
Blood sugars around 350 mg/dL in these patients can sound alarming...and the thought has been to start insulin right away.
But using insulin to rapidly lower blood glucose isn't always needed. Plus it may not be practical...due to a steep learning curve, patient resistance or fear, concerns about cost or low blood sugars, etc.
