Lokelma (loh-KEL-mah, sodium zirconium cyclosilicate) will be a new Rx option to treat high potassium levels, or hyperkalemia.

Think of Lokelma as similar to sodium polystyrene sulfonate (Kayexalate, etc) or Veltassa (patiromer). They all bring down potassium levels by binding potassium in the gut...and removing it from the body.

Use the first 3 letters in Lokelma's brand name as a clue to remember its use. Think "lo" and "k" for "lowers K (potassium)."
