It can be challenging for patients with diabetes to keep their different blood sugar numbers straight.

Blood glucose is a "snapshot" of the patient's blood sugar level at that one moment in time...based on food, exercise, stress, etc.

It's measured using a glucose meter and test strips. Patients will usually shoot for blood sugars of 80 to 130 mg/dL before meals...and less than 180 mg/dL about 1 to 2 hours after the start of a meal.
