You’ll see headlines about whether ORAL phenylephrine (Sudafed PE, etc) works for congestion.

People often reach for phenylephrine because it’s an easily accessible OTC decongestant. It doesn’t require the extra steps of getting it from behind the counter or by Rx...like pseudoephedrine.

We’ve said that oral phenylephrine doesn’t really relieve a “stuffy nose”...likely because it isn’t absorbed well into the bloodstream.
