Avoid Errors With the Multitude of Topicals for Eczema
There will be more chances for errors with topical eczema meds...as the list of options continues to grow.
Patients can sometimes control their eczema (atopic dermatitis) with OTC moisturizers (CeraVe, Eucerin, etc), but Rx topicals are often needed.
Expect to see the newer topical meds when topical steroids (triamcinolone, etc) or calcineurin inhibitors (tacrolimus or pimecrolimus) aren’t enough or can’t be used (side effects, etc) for mild to moderate eczema. Anticipate prior auths for these costly meds.
