Baxdrostat Will Be a New Rx for Resistant Hypertension

Rx baxdrostat (Baxfendy) will be a new add-on med for hard-to-treat hypertension (high blood pressure).

It’s the first “aldosterone synthase inhibitor.” It prevents the hormone aldosterone from being made...which helps to reduce sodium and water retention.

Evidence suggests that adding once daily baxdrostat lowers systolic blood pressure (the top BP number) by about 10 mm Hg more than placebo over 12 weeks...in patients not controlled on multiple other BP meds.
