Insulin icodec (Awiqli) will be the first once-WEEKLY U-700 insulin.
It’s an ultra-long-acting basal insulin that provides a week of coverage with a single subcutaneous dose.
Using once-weekly icodec in patients with type 2 diabetes leads to a slightly lower A1c (~0.2%) and similar rates of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)...compared to daily insulin glargine or degludec.
