influx of questions about treating fever in kids
Cough and cold season is here...and so is the influx of questions about treating fever in kids.
When should fever be treated? For most healthy children, the goal is to provide comfort...NOT to reach a specific temperature. In fact, there is no "magic number" for when parents need to treat a fever.
Alert the pharmacist to parents who report fever in a child 3 months of age or younger...a fever lasting more than 24 hours in a child under 2 years...or if the child appears seriously ill or dehydrated. These kids need further evaluation.
