Expect More Patients With H. Pylori to Get Four Different Meds for 14 Days
You'll see changes in meds (Prevpac, etc) used for H. pylori stomach infections.
We're used to seeing "triple therapy"...a PPI (lansoprazole, etc) PLUS two antibiotics (amoxicillin, clarithromycin, etc)...taken for 7 to 10 days to kill bacteria and promote healing.
But this regimen is falling out of favor. Bacteria are becoming resistant, so the regimen isn't working as well as it used to.
