Here's the latest on which antiepileptic drugs interact with oral contraceptives (OCs).
Carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarb, primidone, and topiramate (Topamax) can interact with OCs. These antiepileptics reduce levels of estrogen and progestin and therefore make OCs less effective.
Felbamate (Felbatol) might also reduce the efficacy of OCs...by reducing progestin levels.
