The Arthritis Foundation is now cautioning that glucosamine might increase blood sugar in patients with diabetes.
Many patients use glucosamine (Cosamin, Osteo-Bi-Flex, etc) for osteoarthritis. It's thought to reduce joint pain by stimulating the formation and repair of cartilage.
Some animal studies suggest that glucosamine can increase blood glucose...possibly by increasing insulin resistance.
