new warning about the risk of congestive heart failure with Sporanox (itraconazole)

The FDA has just added a new warning about the risk of congestive heart failure with Sporanox (itraconazole).

There are now over 50 cases of Sporanox patients developing CHF.

Watch for patients who have cardiac problems or CHF and get Sporanox for fungal nail infections. Suggest Lamisil (terbinafine) instead...so far it hasn't been reported to cause cardiac problems.
