GlaxoSmithKline is now marketing Augmentin XR for resistant sinusitis and community-acquired pneumonia.
Think of it as similar to Augmentin ES-600...but for adults.
It provides a HIGHER dose of amoxicillin compared to regular Augmentin...without significantly increasing the amount of clavulanic acid. Too much clavulanic acid can cause diarrhea.
