If we continue to overuse quinolones, they'll be useless in 5 to 10 years. New guidelines recommend alternatives.
Community-acquired pneumonia in outpatient adults should be treated with a macrolide (Zithromax, Biaxin, erythromycin) OR doxycycline...assuming the patient DOESN'T have a chronic disease...and HASN'T been treated with antibiotics in the past 3 months.
