The CDC is now warning NOT to use amantadine and rimantadine to prevent or treat influenza this year.
Over 90% of this year's dominant influenza A strain is resistant to these antivirals...up from only 11% last year.
The sharp rise in resistance is possibly due to the increased use of amantadine and rimantadine overseas.
