Recent Glumetza ads are causing confusion about which metformin product to choose.

Metformin comes in three forms...immediate-release (Glucophage)...combo meds (Glucovance, etc)...and long-acting (Glumetza, Glucophage XR, Fortamet). All lower blood sugar in diabetes but are dosed differently.

Immediate-release metformin products are used most often.
