Expect to see more hospitalized patients getting alteplase (tPA, Activase, etc) after a stroke.
Alteplase is a "clot buster." It dissolves blood clots that cause most strokes...to help blood flow normally to or in the brain.
It must be given quickly after symptoms start...or it won't work.
