Techs will continue to be challenged by "cephalosporin" antibiotic Rxs

Techs will continue to be challenged by "cephalosporin" antibiotic Rxs...cephalexin, cefdinir, ceftriaxone, etc.

Look out for common errors when dispensing these medications.

Sound-alike/look-alike names. Watch for mix-ups with similar drug names...since most cephalosporin generic names start with "cef." Cefadroxil can be mistaken for cefpodoxime...cefotaxime for ceftazidime...cefuroxime for cefepime...or cefaclor for cefprozil.
