You'll hear differing views over whether it's okay to combine benzodiazepines...lorazepam with temazepam, alprazolam with diazepam, etc.

Prescribers sometimes use more than one benzo to treat different conditions. For example, lorazepam (Ativan) may be prescribed for daytime anxiety along with temazepam (Restoril) for sleep.

One thought behind combining benzos is that the drugs differ in onset and duration. For example, some work quickly and last a few hours...others can build up and stick around for a day or more.
