Technicians will be challenged to keep glaucoma meds straight
Technicians will be challenged to keep glaucoma meds straight...now that the combo Simbrinza (sim-BRIN-za) will be added to the list.
Prostaglandins (latanoprost, Lumigan, etc) are often used first. They're the most effective and usually dosed once daily.
Store latanoprost (Xalatan, etc) and Zioptan (tafluprost) in the fridge BEFORE dispensing. Use labeling to alert patients to special storage requirements once the drops are in use. Latanoprost can be stored up to six weeks at room temp...and unopened Zioptan single-use containers up to 28 days at room temp.
