a new diabetes drug, Invokana (in-vo-KAHN-uh, canagliflozin) hit your pharmacy shelves
You'll see a new diabetes drug, Invokana (in-vo-KAHN-uh, canagliflozin) hit your pharmacy shelves.
Invokana is the first of a new class of diabetes drugs called "SGLT2 inhibitors." It helps the kidneys get rid of excess sugar by sending it out in the urine instead of being reabsorbed.
It can be used alone for treating type 2 diabetes...or in combo with metformin or insulin to help patients reach blood sugar goals.
