Take Steps to Keep Patients Safe From "Drugged Driving"
You're in a prime position to help patients safely use meds that can impair driving ability.
Many patients don't realize "drugged driving" is just as risky as drunk driving...and can lead to the same legal penalties.
Be familiar with key meds that can get patients into trouble. These include barbiturates (phenobarbital, etc)...benzodiazepines (diazepam, etc)...muscle relaxants (cyclobenzaprine, etc)...opioids (oxycodone, etc)...and sleeping pills (zolpidem, etc).
