Solosec Will Be a One-Dose Oral Med for Some Bacterial Vaginal Infections
Solosec (SOH-loh-sec, secnidazole) will try to compete with metronidazole for "bacterial vaginosis."
Both meds can be used to treat these infections caused by an overgrowth of certain bacteria in the vagina.
But patients only need to take one oral dose of Solosec granules...instead of oral metronidazole BID for 7 days. And Solosec doesn't have a warning about avoiding alcohol...metronidazole does.
