Rx Twirla (ethinyl estradiol/levonorgestrel) will be a new weekly patch for contraception.

Think of Twirla as similar to Xulane. Both patches contain an estrogen and a progestin...and are used in a 4-week cycle, with one patch applied weekly for 3 weeks, and no patch worn during week 4.

Either is an option for patients who don't want to take a daily pill, insert a vaginal ring (NuvaRing, etc), or use a long-acting contraceptive (IUD, etc).
