The FDA wants new warnings for all OTC products containing phenylpropanolamine (PPA). They'll appear on products for colds, allergies, and nasal congestion (Dimetapp, etc)...as well as OTC diet pills (Acutrim, Dexatrim).
The new warnings will tell patients not to exceed recommended doses...and not to combine them with other products that contain PPA, phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine, or ephedrine.
They will also recommend that only adults use PPA diet pills. This
