There's a lot of confusion right now over the safety of misoprostol use during labor and delivery.
Misoprostol (Cytotec) is commonly used for cervical ripening and to induce labor. It's more effective than dinoprostone (Prepidil, Cervidil)...and costs less.
The problem is that the manufacturer and the American College of OB/GYNs (ACOG) are putting out different recommendations.
