Amiodarone is often preferred over riskier antiarrhythmics. But amiodarone has its own serious side effects.
Lung injury affects about 1 out of 100 people...and about 10% of these patients die from pneumonitis. Tell patients to report breathing difficulties. Stop the drug if lung injury is confirmed.
