The new aspirin/omeprazole combo tab, Yosprala (yoh-SPRAH-lah), will put the spotlight on safely using aspirin after a stomach bleed.

Aspirin thins the blood to help prevent heart attacks and strokes. But it's tricky to predict when aspirin's heart benefits will outweigh bleeding risks...especially if the patient has had a stomach bleed.

In some cases, it's safe to restart aspirin about 3 days after bleeding stops. But in others, the potential for bleeding is too high.
