Higher INITIAL does of Imitrex (sumatriptan) tablets

    Glaxo is now recommending a higher INITIAL dose of Imitrex (sumatriptan) tablets...50 mg instead of 25 mg.

    The FDA originally recommended a 25 mg starting dose because Glaxo wasn't able to show that higher doses worked better.

    Now they have evidence that the 50 mg dose is more effective...but with the same incidence of side effects.
